FAQ
What’s a dressing room? A dressing room is a roleplaying community without applications or taken lists. All you need to do to begin playing is join the community and start posting! Dressing rooms combine the freedom and lack of pressure of memes with the continuity, longevity, and (some of the) structure of a formal game. What types of characters can be played? Characters allowed are: 1) Any character from a canon that falls into the 'sports' genre. 2) Any character heavily involved in sports, regardless of canon. For example, any character from Kuroko no Basuke, Free!, Air Bud, the Rocky films, Initial D, and Hikaru no Go are all open to be played here. However, you could also play Kou or Akihiko from Persona; Ken or Daisuke from Digimon; any of the Wildcats from High School Musical; or even Johnny from The Room. However, real life athletes are not allowed at MVPs, nor are characters from sports games such as the John Madden Football series. Some canons, such as Hikaru no Go and Yakitate!! Japan, are not strictly speaking sports canons, but share many thematic similarities with the genre. Characters from these canons are generally allowed and the training facility may be altered to accommodate them. Pre-approved canons will have their own tag. If it's not on the list and you're not sure if your canon applies here, please contact a moderator! Are duplicates allowed? Yes. Your characters are free to wonder why there are multiple versions of themselves and their friends wandering about, but the staff at SPORTSHELL are suspiciously adamant that it has nothing to do with any strange equipment in locked rooms. There are no questionable experiments going on in SPORTSHELL. Are AUs allowed? Absolutely! There are two types of AUs allowed: 1) Characters from sports canons AUed into different settings (e.g.: Ryoma Echizen as a demon hunter). 2) Characters from non-sports canons AUed into one (e.g.: Bruce Wayne as a competitive shuffleboard player). Otherwise, there are no limitations on what types of AUs are permitted. A Kuroko that fights Titans, an Atobe that owns a coffee shop chain, or a Gou that manages a brothel instead of a swim team are all fine. Similarly, you may play CRAUs. However, we do ask that you include some basic information about the AU somewhere in your character's journal. (As found in the community rules, this is a requirement and will be enforced.) How did my character end up here?! Two possible ways: 1) Your character received an invitation to train at a top-notch sports facility. They accepted or were perhaps dragged here by a teammate — at any rate, they came voluntarily. 2) There are no questionable experiments going on in SPORTSHELL, but if there theoretically were, one of those experiments has somehow dragged them in. Abruptly waking up on the train, in a dorm room, or at the beach are common ways of arriving. Can characters leave SPORTSHELL? Yes. Officially, characters have to submit a request, but the staff seems to make it very difficult — like signing out of boarding school for the weekend, but 1000x harder. If they decide to leave without submitting a request, they might find that the bridge is blocked (where did that giant squid come from?) or encounter other obstacles. In other words, it is possible to leave. But if it would be difficult for you to ICly justify your character voluntarily staying at SPORTSHELL, feel free to assume that it was somehow impossible for them to leave. How can I keep track of activity within the DR? Our reading page will only ever be subscribed to ![]() ![]() Why are you better than a pool? Trick question, no one is better than a pool. |
